The present invention provides a method for producing a sheet-like pancreatic islet, comprising culturing an isolated pancreatic islet in a culture vessel while adhering the pancreatic islet onto a solid surface of the culture vessel for an enough period for the pancreatic islet to form a sheet-like shape, wherein the culture vessel contains an EC1 domain of E-cadherin and a polypeptide capable of binding to E-cadherin is immobilized or coated on the solid surface of the culture vessel.
