PURPOSE:To make face grinding performable in a uniform and efficient manner, by letting a driving plate perform a rotary motion as well as a rectilinear motion, while making the feed of abrasives to a grinding surface achievable from all directions of a ground surface at the same ratio. CONSTITUTION:Turning force in a motor 1 diverges in both directions by dint of spur gears 2a and 2b, then is transmitted to both eccentric cams 3a and 3b as a toggle mechanism, rotating these cams as well as making a rotary motion base 4 rotate around an axis L. With rotation of the eccentric cam 3a on one side, a work 8a rotates solidly together with this cam, causing a pinion 9a to rotate at a reduced speed. A rotary motion of this pinion 9a is converted into a rectilinear motion to a rack 9b, that is, a guide rail 5 of a driving plate 6. As a result, the driving plate 6 doing both rotary and rectilinear motions, namely, a grinder comes into contact with the terminal plug end face of an optical connector being set to a holder 7, thus the end face is ground for mirror finishing. |
