PURPOSE:To produce highly accurate concave lenses continuously that has a very small diameter and would not required secondary machining such as polishing, by forcing a forcing member partially into a softened lens material so as to form a lens surface in the lens material surface. CONSTITUTION:A lens material 2 is placed on a supporter 1 and is conveyed intermittently from a heating section A via a molding section B to a slow cooling chamber C, and a forcing member 7 is forced at the molding section B into the lens material 2 that has been softened at the heating section A. Thus a concave 2'' is formed in the surface of the lens material 2. When the forcing member 7 is forced into the lens material, the temperature of the part of the lens material 2 adjacent to the forcing member 7 is permitted to fall to or below its softening point, and the temperature of the forcing member 7 and the flow of the atmosphere in the molding section B are controlled in such a manner that after the forcing member 7 is elevated, the lens material of the concave section would not flow and the molded concave 2'' would not deform. |
