PURPOSE:The use of an enzyme which phosphorylates dihydroxyacetone and D- glyceraldehyde enables rapid and precise determination of glycerol and triglycerides in body fluid such as in case of hypertriglyceridemia. CONSTITUTION:The determination of glycerol and triglycerides is carried out by means of a composition which is composed of (A) an enzyme which phosphorylates dihydroxyacetone or D-glyceraldehyde, preferably triokinase, or dihydroxyacetonekinase, glyceroldehydrogenase, pyridine nucleotide coenzyme, preferably nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide, (B) a phosphate donor, preferably adenosine 5'-triphosphate, when necessary, (C) further a divalent metal ion such as Mg, Ca, Co or Mn.
