<p>A load indication system monitors not only the total frictional load on the mold oscillator in a continuous casting apparatus, but also monitors the difference in the oscillator load at various locations around the mold to detect mold wobble and load imbalance. In addition, both the total frictional load and the mold wobble are monitored by detecting their peak-to-peak values. To this end a continuous casting apparatus comprises a mold (5), oscillating means for imparting an oscillating motion to said mold at a plurality of locations including at least a first and second locations, and monitoring means for providing an indication of differences in the oscillating motion at the first and second locations.</p> |
