Described are the alkylthioalkanal dialkyl mercaptals defined according to the generic structure: <IMAGE> wherein n is an integer of from 1 up to 3; and wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different C1-C3 alkyl; process for preparing same and organoleptic uses thereof in augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of foodstuffs, chewing gums, medicinal products and toothpastes.
