PURPOSE:To adhere firmly mortar to a crystallized glass plate by coating the crystallized glass plate or a crystallizable glass plate with an inorg. compound contg. Ga, heating the glass plate to modify the surface, and adhering mortar. CONSTITUTION:When mortar is adhered to a crystallized glass plate, the crystallized glass plate or a crystallizable glass plate is coated uniformly and thinly with a liq. contg. an inorg. compound contg. Ca such as Ca(OH)2, CaCl2 or cement, and the glass plate is heat-treated. In case of the crystallizable glass plate, it is crystallized by the heat treatment. The surface of the glass plate is modified by the heat treatment so as to cause hydration bond to mortar. Accordingly, when the resulting glass plate is used as artificial slate to be adhered to the surface of the wall of a building, very firm adhesion can be carried out.
