摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-reliable optical device, which is capable of outputting uniform light beams at an identical output angle with a small loss, and on which an aligning work can be easily and reliably carried out when optically coupling with an optical fiber without causing increase of steps and/or manufacturing cost while ensuring the yield.SOLUTION: The optical device is constructed of, including: a lower layer 12 of SiO; a diffraction grating 2 which includes a core layer 14, which is formed over a lower layer 12 of an optical waveguide 1 and has a refraction index higher than the lower layer 12, and plural protrusions 15a, which are formed independently from each other at predetermined intervals being aligned with the core layer 14; and a coating layer 16 having a refraction index higher than the lower layer 12, which covers the surface of the plural protrusions 15a and the surface of the lower layer 12 between the protrusions 15a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
