PURPOSE:To eliminate a special operation to actuate an adaptor shift mechanism in the loading direction after replacement of a miniature tape cassette, by having such a constitution where the adaptor shift mechanism carries automatically the adaptor to its loading position when a cover is closed after the replacement of said tape cassette. CONSTITUTION:An operator opens a door 6 of a top plate 4 of a device 1 up to its vertical position. Thus a slot 5 is opened and a top cover 60 of an adaptor 30 is set right under the slot 5. Then a finger tip is put into the slot 5 to slide a knob 64 of the adaptor 30 toward an arrow X1. Thus the lock of the cover 60 is released and the cover 60 is opened up to approximately its vertical position by a twist coil spring 77. Under such conditions, a miniature tape cassette 34 is stored into a store part 33 of the adaptor 33 through the slot 5. Then the cover 60 and then a shoulder 6 are closed. Switches SW1a and SW2a are closed at a time point when the cover 60 is closed. Then the power supply at the side of the device 1 is applied to a motor 37 through a terminal 70 and actuated to start a tape loading action within the adaptor 30.
