PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of color purity and improve landing allowance by forming horizontal and vertical opening arrangement lines into a barrel shape and a linear shape, respectively, and providing a variable pitch that flatly increases the longitudinal pitch of the opening on a vertical axis in relation to the distance from the mask center to the outside. CONSTITUTION:A number of circular openings of a shadow mask are arranged such that horizontal arrangmenet lines form a barrle shape 22 and vertical arrangement lines form a linear shape. In addition, at least a part of the longitudinal pitch of openings 21 on a vertical axis y is arranged in a variable pitch that flatly increases as it approaches the end of the vertical axix y from a horizontal axis x containing the mask center. To compensate the decrease of the longitudinal pitch at the periphery of the screen short side, the pitch PH on the horizontal axis is made constant and the longitudinal pitch Pv on the vertical axis increases flatly as it approaches the periphery from the center. |
