PURPOSE:To manufacture a manganese dry battery having good discharge performance by treating electrolytic MnO2 washed with water or neutralized with alkaline solution, with a solution containing a zinc compound, and using it as a positive active material. CONSTITUTION:Electrolytic MnO2 washed with water or neutralized with alkaline solution of Na or NH4 is treated with a solution containing a Zn compound such as chloride, nitrate, or sulfate of zinc. Proton, Na<+>, or NH4<+> on the surface of MnO2 are replaced with Zn. Thereby an intersecting point of potential-pH line moves to acidic side and potential change is kept small in a wide pH range. A manganese dry battery using this MnO2 shows good discharge performance with decreased voltage drop from a middle stage of discharge and suppressed impedance increase. |
