PURPOSE:To reduce inertial load, prevent a multicolor ribbon from bounding and capable of changing over the color of the ribbon smoothly and speedily, by incorporating a stepping motor into an operating member. CONSTITUTION:When the stepping motor 8 is driven to rotate forward and backward, a gear 7 is rotated through a pinion 9, and a main body 5 of a grooved cam is rotated. A pin 3 of a change-over arm 1 engaged with a groove 6 provided in the main body 5 is moved along the groove 6, and the arm 1 is turned with a pin 4 as an axis to move the multicolor ribbon 11, whereby a predetermined color is made to correspond to a printing head 10, namely, the color is changed over. When selecting an arbitrary color by the stepping motor 8, the motor 8 is stopped at a home position of color in a mechanical manner by overrunning to the final end of the groove 6 of the main body 5 of the grooved cam, pulses are further fed at that position to maintain a disordered condition until a prescribed phase of the motor 8 is reached, and supply of the pulses is stopped at the prescribed phase. |
