PURPOSE:To control an aperture diaphragm securely and to facilitate the decision of composition and the adjustment of a focus by changing the diaphragm straightly up to a value corresponding to exposure control information accompanying with the start of the driving of the diaphragm and compensating the diaphragm by an output from an image pick-up means. CONSTITUTION:When a current does not flow into a coil 100, the diaphragm is fully opened and kept at the state to fit for, the setting of a new object or a picture composition. When a release button is depressed, the current corresponding to a control value AV2 kept held flows into the coil 100 and is directly diaphragmed to the diaphragm value corresponding to the control value AV2. When a time slightly longer than the time necessary for the diaphragm control passes, a control output X3 is turned to a high level only for one field period or one frame period synchronously with a vertical synchronizing signal from a synchronizing circuit 117 to record an output through an AGC26. At the completion of the recording, a flip flop 29 is reset to end AE lock display by a display circuit 30.
