For slitting ribbon stock for use in making fins for a heat exchanger, a pair of slitter wheels (30,32) are mounted to coact on separate shafts (14,16). One of the shafts (14) is driven directly by a motor (12). The other shaft (16) is driven from the first shaft by means of notched pulleys (20,24) mounted on the respective shafts and a double sided belt, which also serves to maintain the slitter teeth (34) of the respective wheels in registration during rotation. A phase shifting device (70) is provided to allow for initial alignment of the slitter teeth relative to the pulleys. |
