PURPOSE:To combine output signals of respective processing circuits to generate a color composite video signal of a positive picture, and to simplify the constitution of a circuit and to improve operativity by photographing a negative picture and outputting video signals of three separated colors from an image pickup means, and processing those signals by three processing circuits. CONSTITUTION:A negative picture is photographed by the image pickup means, which outputs the video signals of three separated colors to the processing circuits 202R, 203G, and 202B of a video signal processing part. Those processing circuits 202R, 202G, and 202B are provided with a DC level control circuit 206, peak level detecting circuit 208, and switching circuit 210 to balance white as to a shadow and highlight part. A negative-positive inverting circuit 220, clamping circuit 226, slice averaging circuit 228, gamma correcting circuit 224, etc., are provided on the output side of this circuit 210 to make an adjustment of white balance. Then, outputs of the processing circuits 202R, 202G, and 202B are combined by a color encoder 250 to output the color composite video signal of the positive picture.
