PURPOSE:To attain the alignment of a magnetic head easily and at high accuracy by providing a head minute feed mechanism within a carriage to give a minute shift to the magnetic head independently of a stepping motor. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 12 contains a base carriage 33, a fine adjustment plate 34, an upper head carriage 35, an upper head arm 14, a head alignment mechanism and an upper head control mechanism. The control of head position is carried out in the following procedure. That is, a bolt 77 is turned to perform the off-track control of a lower magnetic head 28 (1); the off-center control of an upper magnetic head 29 is performed by turning set screws 63 and 64 and setting the index burst signal of the head 29 to that of the head 28 (2); a bolt 67 is turned to give the off-track control to the head 29 (3); and a bolt 71 is turned to control the azimuth of the head 29. In this case, the carriage 33 is fixed to the plate 34 and the carriage 35 by means of an adhesive in order to prevent the defective control due to vibrations after the control of each part. |
