PURPOSE:To make the titled element act as non-directional sufficiently in practical use by a method wherein the light receiving surface should be either of a poly-plane or a convex curved plane of cylindrical peripheral surface form or semi-spherical surface form. CONSTITUTION:The light receiving surface d1 in a base body is formed of the convex curved plane of semi-spherical form. Along this light receiving surface d1, a diode junction layer consisting of the lamination of a p<+> layer, an i-layer, and an n<+> layer is formed. An Si oxide film or nitride film is used as an insulation film 2. Since the semi-spherical full peripheral surface is made as the light receiving surface in this manner, the element has a detection sensitivity uniform to the photo signals incident from the side full periphery and above and generates no spacial restrictions in the direction of signal incidence. Thereby, when it is used as the detector, etc. in a remote controlling device, it can be made to sufficiently act as the non-directional photo diode in practical use. |
