A disc brake incorporates a fixed support (11), a caliper (17) incorporating a hydraulic actuator and sliding on pins (14 and 15). Friction pads (16) incorporating back plates (42) are also guided by extensions (24 and 34) of pins (14 and 15). Pin (14) transmits the whole of the brake torque from the pads (16) to the fixed support (11) due to an elongated aperture (44) in which the pin (15) engages. Pin (14) is designed to take the whole of this brake torque whereas pin (15) is designed to be readily removable. Flats (23) on pin (14) together with an opening (40) in the aperture (43) of each back plate (42) facilitate disengagement of brake pads from pin (14) when the caliper and pad assembly is swung away from the disc after removal of pin (15).
|
