The alarm consists of a small box mounted on the bicycle frame to which a coaxial cable is connected. The free end of the cable (1) is fed through the wheel and plugged into the box to form a continuous loop, after a key is turned and removed. If an attempt is made to sever the cable, the outer metal sleeve (2) will be shorted to the inner core (3) momentarily. This will connect a battery (11) to a buzzer (11) and relay coil (5) in parallel. The relay has a hold-on contact (7) which continues to sound the buzzer even if the short is removed.
