<p>The universal lift, esp. on a slope, comprises a track mounted on piers, supporting a load travelling between stations. There is a motor driven tractive mechanism, and, if appropriate, a counterweight. The track is a single rail (1), in hollow, pref. square, tube form, with one diagonal line vertical and its sides at 45 deg. to the vertical. A counterweight may be guided inside it. - The load, and counterweight, if present, hang on a round-steel-bar chain (5), deflected through approx. 180 deg. over a chain-wheel (6) connected to the drive. The chain may be a circulating chain, deflected at both track ends, and partly guided inside the rail. (1/7) USAB- US4534451 A The elevator includes a rigid runway on single poles, a load transportable between stations, a motor-driven traction element and if necessary a counterweight. It consists of a single rail (1) used as a runway, being a hollow-tube profile, preferably having a square profile. - The diagonal of the rail is in vertical position, if necessary the counterweight (8) is guided inside the rail. The load to be moved and if necessary also the counterweight are suspended on a circular steel chain (5) which is turned by approximately 180 deg. around a sprocket (6) connected to a drive.
