Arranged on the front edge of grippers, scoops or shovels of hydraulic excavators, loaders or the like is a tooth which consists of a support pin which is connected to the front edge which is designed as a reinforced girder, is of truncated-pyramid shape and forms the tooth neck, and of a tooth crown which is placed thereon, provided with an approximately complementary recess and connected positively thereto by a wedge, a spring or a safety bolt. In order to relieve the support pin and the safety bolt, at least the front or rear side of the support pin (3) and the wall of the recess (10) of the tooth crown (4), which wall bears essentially against said side, are bent approximately in the shape of a circular arc about an imaginary axis (7) lying above the inner tooth flank which faces the main loading direction. The lateral walls of the tooth crown (4) are provided with legs (14, 15) which extend the walls and are bent inwards in a hook shape and which engage behind lateral projections (20) of the support pin (3) which are bent in the opposite direction. The surfaces of the tooth crown (4) and of the support pin (3) which engage behind one another are likewise bent approximately in the shape of a circular arc about the imaginary axis (7). The safety bolt (5) passes through the legs (14, 15) and the support pin (3) in a transverse bore (23, 24, 25).
