PURPOSE:To make possible quick and precise clamping in foam molding, by feeding a hydraulic oil into an inner cylinder formed in a piston rod of a cylinder for opening and closing a mold to move forward the piston rod at high speed so that mold registration is carried out, loading a raw material to be filled into a cavity, and then pressing the rear part of the piston that has been moved forward together with the piston rod so that final clamping may be effected at high pressure. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic oil is fed from a hydraulic unit 80 via a piping 81, a suction and discharge hole 61 and a passage hole 51 of a cylinder 50 into an inner cylinder 31 of a piston rod 30 so as to move the piston rod 30 forward, so that a movable plate 13 is moved a prescribed distance thereby carrying out mold registration. The cavity 16 defined by a female force 14 and a core force 15 is loaded with a raw material, that is, foamable thermoplastic resin particles. After the completion of the loading, a control valve on the side of the hydraulic unit 80 is actuated to feed the hydraulic oil via a piping 82 and a suction and discharge hole 62 into an outer cylinder 70 thereby pressing a piston 40. As a result, the female force 14 and a male force 15 are positively and firmly clamped finally. Thus, as the hydraulic oil is fed into the small diameter inner cylinder 31 in the piston rod 30 to carry out mold registration, the movable plate 13 can be moved at high speed by feeding only a small amount of the hydraulic oil. |
