The invention relates to a method and a detector for analysing gases and liquids, in which a stream of gas containing the species to be determined is brought into contact with a stream of liquid, or a stream of liquid containing the species to be determined is brought into contact with a stream of gas and, optionally, a second stream of liquid, in a contact tube and the ions formed in the liquid phase are measured on passing through a measuring cell, the measuring cell being arranged, without separation of the gas phase, as an extension of the contact tube and the electrical contact between the electrodes being made via the liquid falling on the inner wall of the measuring cell in the form of a film.
