The invention relates to a pipe part or fitting (1), consisting especially of a thermoplastic, having a collar (3) and having a chamber (13). An annular sealing element is arranged in the chamber (13). In the case of structures which have become known in the past, very considerable insertion forces resulted, to some extent, especially when inserting a pipe having an insertion end which had no chamfer, or only an incompletely designed chamfer. Furthermore, there is a risk of the sealing element becoming damaged or being pressed out of the chamber. In order to avoid these difficulties, it is proposed that the sealing element consist of a cavity sealing ring (5) having an integrally formed bead ring (6), the front free end being rolled inwards over an angle of at least 150 DEG , in the form of a roll (12). The roll (12) engages around the bead ring (6) and firmly brackets the latter reliably, in that even in the case of severe installation conditions, the insertion end can be inserted into the collar (3) without damage or without pressing the sealing ring out. <IMAGE>
