In the method, the roadway covering surface is removed by milling or paring, the removed material is collected, if appropriate heated and mixed with aggregates and then reinstated. A device which is suitable for this consists of a self-propelled running gear (1), on which devices for milling off or paring off (5) the roadway covering surface, as well as a collecting device (12) for the removed material, are arranged. A mixer (13) is also provided, in which aggregates can be added to the removed material, as is a finisher (20) for reinstating the processed material. <IMAGE>
