PURPOSE:To secure such a drilling machine as being small-sized, lightweight and excellent in operatability as well as capable of size compensation in an automated manner, by drilling a H-beam or the like having a web and a flange being formed opposite to both ends of the web in a way of centering the web. CONSTITUTION:When an H-beam 2 mounted on a base block 1 is drilled, first each transfer part 14 of size compensators 13 attached to each of nipping members 6a and 8 is made to go upward and come into contact with a web. At this time, a transfer extent in the transfer part 4, that is, a distance from the top of bases at both sides of the web is found by each of rotary encoders 15a and 15b whereby the desired value of a bore made in a flange at an arithmetic unit 17 on the basis of the given value, thickness of the web, flange height of the H- beam 2 and so on is found in this way. And, an operation result hereat is inputted into a control unit 16, controlling each cylinder 32, then drill units 37 and 38 are positioned right at the compensated situation, and the required drilling is made so as to be automatically performed. |
