PURPOSE:To restrain background fog and demagnetization of a latent image and to enhance image quality by forming a sufficient space between a magnetic recording medium and a rotating sleeve, and transferring a magnetic toner from the sleeve onto the latent image by an electric field. CONSTITUTION:An electric field caused between an electrode roller 21 and an electrode plate 26 energizes a magnetic toner 15 in the direction of releasing it from a rotating sleeve 16. Voltage of a power supply, the distance of a space S, etc. are set in advance so as to render the resultant of the force of said electric field and magnetic attraction due to the magnetic field of a magnetic latent image on the magnetic layer 19 of a magnetic recording medium 31 smaller than the electrostatic attraction between the electrostatic positive charge of the magnetic toner 15 and a negative charge. As a result, the toner 15 on the sleeve 16 jumps toward the latent image on the medium 31 and attaches to it, and does not attach to the part except the latent image, thus restraining background fog and demagnetization of the latent image and enhancing image quality. |
