The packaging container consists of a container bottom part (1) and a container top part (2) which at least partially overlaps said bottom part. On at least one side wall (3), the container top part (2) extends from its top wall (16) down to the bottom (4) of the container bottom part (1), said side wall (3) forming a resting surface for the container top part (2). The container top part (2) has a bottom part (5) which grips below the bottom (4) of the container bottom part (1) and has a free edge (6) which runs with spacing from and essentially parallel to the side wall (3) and on which the container bottom part (1) is hinged with its bottom (4). In this case, the pivot axis (7) runs along the free edge (6) or parallel thereto. The part of the container bottom part (1) extending between the pivot axis (7) and the side wall (3) does not project over the smaller of the two cylinder surfaces which are imagined around the pivot axis (7) and contact the top wall (16) and the side wall (3). <IMAGE>
