PURPOSE:To improve the suitability to repeated erasion and rewriting by successively laminating an electrode, a photoconductor and a thermoplastic resin on a substrate and by using a polymer having a specified mol.wt. and a specified mol.wt. distribution as the thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 2 such as a ''NESA'' film, a photoconductor layer 3 and a thermoplastic resin layer 4 are successively laminated on a transparent or opaque smooth substrate 1. A low mol.wt. polymer having 1,500- 5,00mol.wt. Mw and a mol.wt. distribution having <=1.1 ratio of Mw/Mn and close to that of single dispersion, e.g., polystyrene or PVC is used as the thermoplastic resin. Since said polymer is used, the layer 4 has low viscosity and high deformability at a temp. above the softening point. The mol.wt. is kept almost uniform over the layer 4, and the material is homogeneous even after repeated recording, so superior resolution can be obtd. the suitability of the resulting optical recording material to repeated writing and erasion is improved, the material can be utilized as a medium for high density recording, and restriction on the kind of light source to be used is relaxed. |
