The invention relates to a rock anchor with a tension element, in particular in the form of a cable (3), which can be secured in a borehole and has a supporting device arranged on its end projecting from the borehole, which supporting device serves to support a pressure plate bearing against the rock in the area of the mouth of the borehole and has a radially compressible clamping element (9) with cylindrical inner surface (11) which, under the effect of radial clamping forces, produces a connection, yielding under load, between the supporting device and the tension element or a squeeze sleeve (7) rigidly connected to the tension element. So that the clamping force required for the hold of the clamping ring can be produced in a simple manner in a rock anchor of this type, the invention proposes that the clamping element (9) be designed as a clamping ring to which a clamping-wedge mechanism (13) is allocated for producing the clamping force. <IMAGE>
