MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has an excellent running characteristic by incorporating carbon black of which the average particle size is in a range of a limited size and of which the oil absorbing rate of dibutyl phthalate is of a specific weight or above in a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording medium contains carbon black which has 30-50mmu average particle size and of which the oil absorbing rate of dibutyl phthalate for each 100g of the carbon black is >=120ml in the magnetic layer. More specifically, the carbon black having the specific particle size and having the oil absorbing rate of dibutyl phthalate at a specific value or above increases its strength when mixed with a binder and lubricant and provides specifically a good running characteristic to the magnetic layer.
