<p>PURPOSE:To know the stop position of a magnetic tape in a video tape recorder by generating a signal which specifies which of plural areas determined in the lengthwise direction of the magnetic tape the magnetic head is in. CONSTITUTION:The rotary magnetic head records the 1st, the 2nd, the 3rd, and the 4th pilot signals of different frequencies which are generated synchronously with the rotation on the magnetic tape, one upon another, together with a video signal to be recorded successively, and the signal which specifies which of plural areas determined previously in the lengthwise direction of the magnetic tape previously on the magnetic tape the magnetic head during reproduction and the stop of said magnetic head is generated from the 1st comparison output obtained by comparing the 1st and the 3rd pilot signals separated from a signal reproduced by the magnetic head and detected and the 2nd comparison output obtained by comparing the 2nd and the 4th pilot signals mutually. The stop position of the magnetic tape 1 is expressed by the intersection of the center run track 4c and switching point 5a of the magnetic heads 3a and 3b.</p> |
