PURPOSE:To produce a titled small diameter tube having a high tensile strength with an inexpensive installation by reducing the body of a small diameter metallic tube contg. a filament in area while grasping the same from the inside and outside by means of a reducing die and a floating plug with a passage hole for the filament then reducing further the tube in area with multistage roll dies. CONSTITUTION:A metallic tape 2' is supplied from a tape supply 1 to a forming machine 3, by which the tape is formed into a tube. The seam of the tape 2' is welded by a welding machine 4 to form successively a body 2 of a small diameter metallic tube. On the other hand, a filament 6 is supplied from a filament supply 5 to the machine 3 and is introduced into the body 2 under forming. A small diameter metallic tube 7 contg. the filament obtd. in such a way is cooled in a cooler 8 and is then passed through sizing rolls 9 by which the body 2 is reduced in area by several % and thereafter while the body 2 is grasped from the inside and outside by means of a reducing die 10 and a floating plug 12 with a passage hole 11 for the filament, the body is reduced in area. The tube is then passed through a roll die group 18 via a take-off dancer roll 17 by a take-off 16 so as to be reduced in area and to be work hardened.
