PURPOSE:An enteric coating composition having improved acid resistance, obtained by dispersing fine powder of enteric cellulose derivative having a specific average particle diameter, inorganic fine powder and a plasticizer into an aqueous medium. CONSTITUTION:An enteric coating composition obtained by dispersing fine powder of an enteric cellulose derivative (e.g., cellulose acetate phthalate) having <10mum average particle diameter, inorganic fine powder (e.g., talc) having <10mum average particle diameter, and a plasticizer (e.g., triethyl citrate) in an aqueous medium. A solid agent such as tablet, granule, fine granule, etc. is covered with the enteric coating composition to give an enteric pharmaceutical preparation having extremely improved denseness, and high acid resistance. An amount of enteric coating agent consumed is reduced, and time required for coating operation is shortened. In a ratio of each component used, 5-200pts.wt. inorganic fine powder and >=5pts.wt. plasticizer are preferably used based on 100pts.wt. enteric cellulose derivative.
