PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material for high-speed recording excellent in heat response characteristic and having a high image stability, by using a specified phenolic compound as a color developer, in a thermal recording material using a leuco dye. CONSTITUTION:A phenolic compound of formula (wherein R is a 1-6C alkyl group) is used in a quantity of 1-6 times of that of a leuco dye based on triphenylmethane, fluoran, phenothiazine or the like. The two components are applied to a base such as a paper or a plastic film together with an ordinary binder and auxiliary additive components such as a filler or a surface active agent to produce a heat-sensitive layer. In addition to the phenolic compound, other known color developer may be jointly used as a color developer. |
