PURPOSE:To attain accurate extraction of a signal component by using a dark signal of a charge storage unit of the same column on an adjacent row. CONSTITUTION:An amplifier AM1 amplifies a dark current of a photodiode 111 of a group (a) at a time t1 and an amplifier AM2 amplifies a signal current and a dark current of a photodiode 211 of a group (b) at the same time. Thus, the difference in both levels is obtained as a differential output. Further, the change in the dark current is response to temperature or the like appears at all photodiodes as a change in the same direction. So large error is not caused if a dark current of a photoelectric converting element is replaced into a dark current of a prescribed photoelectric converting element. Thus, a signal level obtained at an output of a differential amplifier DFA is a substantial signal level, which does not include the component of dark current.
