PURPOSE:To allow the rotary and straight motions of a clamp arm to take place independently by furnishing the rod with a rotary actuator restricted by a vane and a spring, by turning the rod with the vane, and by moving in the axial direction by said rotary actuator. CONSTITUTION:When pressure oil is fed from a port 44 into chambers 30, 31, vanes 28, 29 rotate in the direction of Arrow 46, and then a rod 21 returns and clamp arm 20 revolves. If the vanes 28, 29 come in contact with fixed pieces 26, 27, the pressure in said chambers 30, 31 as well as in a space formed between the cylinder case inner wall 22 and a disc 24 rises, and when it exceeds the spring 40 force, a rotary actuator 23 sinks to cause sink of the clamp arm 20 also. Thus clamping motion is performed. In order to release the clamp, the pressure at the port 44 is set free and the pressure oil is allowed to flow in from a port 45, and then the rod 21 rises, and when it attains a specified limit, it will rotate. Restriction of the clamping speed is also relieved.
