PURPOSE:To lower the cost of a rotary compressor, by performing a laser welding or an electron beam welding to assemble a cylinder ring with bearings, decreasing the thickness of the ring, and effecting a sheet metal processing or using a mass-producible steel pipe to manufacture the ring. CONSTITUTION:The thickness (t) of a cylinder ring 2 is set at 20% or less of its inside diameter D. A mass-producible steel sheet or a rolled steel sheet is processed by rolls to form the cylinder ring 2 to reduce the cost of a rotary compressor. The peripheral portions of compression chamber sides 8, 9 of flanges 5, 6 of a bearing 3 and an auxiliary bearing 4 are welded on both the end faces 10, 11 of the cylinder ring 2 inward in the radial direction by a laser or electron beam which produces a less effect of heat not to cause a remaining stress and a thermal strain, so that the cylinder ring is assembled with the bearings as the accuracy of finished surfaces is maintained. Furthermore, the thickness of the ring 2 is made small enough to reduce the size and weight of the compressor body.
