PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound which can be converted to a phosphoric acid derivative useful as an insecticide and fungicide for agricultural and horticultural use, in high purity, by heating an easily available epoxy compound together with an acid. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula II can be prepared by reacting the epoxy compound of formula I (R is H, lower alkyl or cycloalkyl; R' is lower alkyl; X is halogen) with an acid such as mineral acid, organic acid, etc. under heating usually at 60-200 deg.C for 1-10hr. The acid is used in the form of an aqueous solution or a water-containing solution, and its concentration is preferably 10-90W/V%.
