PURPOSE:To inspect automatically the presence or absence of shank bending at every resetting of a welding gun to a standby position by providing a clamping member for fixing the welding gun in a prescribed position and an inspecting member for inspecting the shank bending. CONSTITUTION:A supporting frame 9 is erected perpendicularly from a foundation frame 8 in the standby position of a welding gun 1 to support a clamping device 10 and an inspecting device 11. When the gun 1 is reset from the welding position to the standby position, the device 10 fixes the gun 1 as clampers 12, 12 are actuated by cylinders 13, 13 to clamp a lower arm 2b. The lower cylinder 23 of air cylinders 22, 23 operates to rise a sensor part 17 from a position M to U. All the light emitting elements 25 are made to emit light and whether all the photodetectors 26 opposite thereto are turned on or not is checked. A ''presence'' of shank bending is decided when any one photodetector 26 is off. The sensor part 17 is lowered to a position D and the presence or absence of the shank bending is inspected with a lower shank 6 in the same way as mentioned above. |
