A toothpaste consists of 35 wt.% sorbitol, 45-85 wt.% liquid that contains at least 25 wt.% water (based on toothpaste), 3 wt.% polyvinylpyrrolydon, and 3-10 wt.% vehicle. Thus, a toothpaste was prepd. contg. sorbitol (70%) 16.0, polyvinylpyrrolydon 6.10, Na CM cellulose 1.10, Na saccharine 0.20, TiO2 0.40, Na monofluorophosphate 0.80, anhydried alumina 10.0, Na alumino silicate 20.0, Na lauryl sulfate 1.77, aroma 1.10, and H2O 42.63%. The dryness of a toothpaste that contains sorbitol and a gelation agent as moisture conservation materials is thus diminished.
