The invention relates to a road joint intended to join two portions of road surfacing 1, 4, 6; 2, 5, 7 which are separated by a gap 3, which joint comprises two edge sections P and an intermediate elastic seal G. The seal is bordered by two cylindrical strips 28 joined to its flanks by short and thin bridging connectors 29 and each edge section comprises a sole plate 8 anchored in the road and a cover 9 whose edge, on the gap 3 side, is set back slightly with respect to that of the sole plate, this cover being bolted directly onto the sole plate and the assembly, thus bolted, delimiting laterally a groove 26 with a narrowed opening emerging into the gap and capable of receiving, with elastic crushing, one of the two cylindrical strips. <IMAGE>
