PURPOSE:To provide a filler for rubber, which can be used as reinforcing material or filler for rubber, consisting of fine coal ashes obtd. by classifying or pulverizing coad ashes. CONSTITUTION:A filler for rubber, which can be used in place of conventional reinforcing material or filler for rubber, is composed of fine coal ashes obtd. by classifying or pulverizing coal ashes comprising cinders left behind after the combustion of coal and mainly composed of SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, CaO and C (unburned carbon). The smaller the average particle size of coal ash, the more the rubber performance is improved, rubber properties such as tensile strength, tear strength, elongation, etc. are improved, the hardness tends to increase and the weight is lightened as compared with conventional rubber. Necessary expense are only tranportation cost and classifying cost, and the cost and labor required for the effective utilization of resources, the ensuring of relaining land or dump for coal ashes or a measure taken against environmental pollution can be saved.
