PURPOSE:To avoid a wasteful image processing operation by detecting a coordinate position of an original, and executing a warning or an image processing inhibition in case when an angle of the original placed diagonally exceeds a prescribed angle. CONSTITUTION:An original is prescanned, and in accordance with a white picture signal of a main scanning time in the direction of the axis X, a counter is controlled, X coordinates X1-X4 of four corner points P1-P4 of the original are determined, and Y coordinates Y1-Y4 of the points P1-P4 are determined by subscanning in the direction of the axis Y. By an operation by a CPU, based on this coordinate value, it is detected that the original is placed diagonally, and its inclined angle is calculated. When the inclined angle exceeds an inclined angle within a trimming possible range in case of scanning the original for the purpose of copying, a warning display or an image processing inhibition is executed, and a wasteful image processing operation is avoided. |
