PURPOSE:To enable to form the uniform coat of cuprous oxide by a method wherein a Cu coated metallic wire is formed in a polygonal form in section and thereafter treated with the coat of cuprous oxide by heating, and then immediately water cooled. CONSTITUTION:Wire drawing processing of reduction rate at 30% or more is performed to a core wire made of Cu coated Fe-Ni alloy and thus formed in a polygonal form in section. The wire obtained by the reduction processing at 30% or more in this manner becomes uniform in the variation of the thickness in the side, and accordingly it becomes possible to restrain the variation of the coefficient of expansion in different places. Next, the element wire 14 thus obtained is heated to 900-1,000 deg.C by means of a heating burner 16 and treated with the coat of cuprous oxide. Said wire is then immediately led to a cooling water bath 17 adjusted at 20 deg.C or less and rapidly cooled and then wound up to a wind-up machine 19 as a wire 18 coated with uniform cuprous oxide at a room temperature. Thereby, the coefficient of expansion can be made uniform, and the uniform coat of cuprous oxide can be formed. |
