PURPOSE:To simplify an optical path and reduce the frequency of trouble by arranging an optical system in such a way that a platen glass is turned downward, providing a platen under the optical system so that the optical system moves up and down, and bringing an original which faces up into contact with the reverse surface of the platen glass and taking a copy. CONSTITUTION:The original 25 is sets on the platen 21 with the top surface up at the lowermost end part of a rail 23 firstly, and a motor is operated by turning on the switch of an elevating means 24 to elevate the platen 21. When the platen 21 reaches specific height, a limit switch operates to stop the rotation of the motor in an overrun state, and the platen 21 which is elevated as mentioned above stops where the original 25 is pressed against the reverse surface of the platen glass 14 in tight contact by a buffer member. This state is maintained by a locking mechanism and setting operation is completed. When copying operation is completed, the platen 21 is unlocked and the switch is turned on again to reverse the motor; and the platen is returned to the original position and the original 25 is taken out. |
