The rapid tool change fixture is for a rotary tool esp. a milling tool (4). A carrier (1) has a taper bore (2) for the tool shank (3), with a cap nut (5) screwed on its end and rotatably connected with a pressure ring (7). The tool is connected to the ring via a bayonet-type coupling which may be formed by an annular collar (9) and a conical surface (10). Three circumferentially spaced conical flats (16) and a radial pin (17) are provided on the tool, with three circumferentially spaced complementary flats in the bore of the ring.
