PURPOSE:To make not to generate large thermal stress on a heat exchanger tube further by enlarging impact force peeling the soot off, by removing the soot sticked to a heating surface off from the heating surface by jetting hot water against the heating surface of a heat exchanger for recovery of waste heat. CONSTITUTION:At the time of making cleaning of a hot water generator 21, soot of a heat exchanger tube is removed by jetting hot water followed by vapor against the heat exchanger tube of the hot water generator 21 from a spray tube 27 by setting a hot water check valve 34 and a supply water check valve 35 at an appropriate opening. It is considered to make a temperature of the jetting hot water to an extent of 100-230 deg.C. When the cold water is jetted against the heat exchanger tube, contraction of the tube is generated and peeling off of the soot is generated. Althrough a similar phenomenon is happening in case of water, it is not desirable as serious contraction is generated suddenly causing generation of stress in case of water.
