PURPOSE:To produce inexpensively a continuous material having a fixed width at a high speed by cutting scrap by a laser beam, placing a laser oscillator in a fixed position and cutting square the scrap flowing at a high speed. CONSTITUTION:The scrap 4 produced by cutting with a side trimmer 8 is conveyed as it is on the same pass line as for a cut material 1' and while the scrap is pressed by a pair of pressing rolls 8, the scrap is delivered to the downstream. The scrap passes thereafter right under a laser device 9. The device 9 is disposed above the pass line so as to intersect orthogonally therewith at a light spacing therefrom and constituted of a laser head part consisting of a laser oscillator 9a, an optical path cover 9b and an optical system mechanism such as a lens, etc. The laser beam condensed by the laser head part is irradiated to the scrap 4 and as the laser head part moves, the scrap is cut. |
