Guidance of large-size satellites with low density by electromagnetic effect

Guidance system for large-size satellites of low density and for solar sails using the torque effect induced between the local magnetic field and a field created by an electromagnetic effect generated by loops of electrical conductors placed in different planes and traversed by currents whose direction, strength and duration are controlled as a function of the characteristics of the local magnetic field, the initial orientation of the satellite and the desired final orientation. This electromagnetic guidance torque can advantageously be strengthed by implanting along the conductors a material with high magnetic permeability. <IMAGE>
